Sifu Jensen's Primary Teachers
Master Peter Ralston
At sixteen he began learning the Traditional Chinese Kung Fu style of Xing Yi Quan with Master Peter Ralston. This led to studying Northern Shaolin and Tai Chi as well and within two years he was recommended to Master Ralston′s teacher Grandmaster Wong Jackman. Because of his intense love of these arts and dedicated daily practice of several hours in addition to classes he made rapid progress. He spent 8 years with Master Peter Ralston and completed the Instructors Training Program and many meditation retreats and intensive training sessions. Sifu Jensen began teaching for Master Peter Ralston in 1980 and started his own classes in 1982. During this period he also competed in many fighting and forms competitions and amassed quite a collection of trophies.
Grandmaster Wong Jackman
Grandmaster Wong Jackman is the Grandmaster of Northern Shaolin Kung Fu in the lineage of Ku Yu Jeong and Yim Sheung Mo. Grandmaster Wong is a living martial arts legend whose skill surpasses normal descriptions. Unfortunately most members of the general public have only heard about him from the erroneous stories (some would say outright lies) about his fight with Bruce Lee circulated by Lees family and greedy members of the press. Grandmaster Wong is a quiet, truly kind, and very personal man who taught people of all races beginning in the early 1960′s. As a traditional teacher of the highest caliber Wong possesses exceptional integrity and depth of character. From Grandmaster Wong Sifu Jensen was also fortunate to learn many traditional weapons, two person forms, and the advanced Lohan style of Kung Fu in addition to Northern Shaolin, Xing Yi Quan, and Tai Ji Quan. Sifu Jensen continued to train with Grandmaster Wong Jackman for 25 years until Wong retired in December 2008. Grandmaster Wong is without a doubt Sifu Jensen′s primary instructor.
Dr. Vincent Black
In 1994 Sifu Jensen began studying with Dr. Vincent Black. Dr. Black practices traditional Chinese bone setting and manual therapy known as Tui Na, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbs, as well as Cranial Sacral Therapy. In addition to being a gifted healer, Dr. Black has acquired deep knowledge and profound skill in traditional Chinese martial arts specializing in Xing Yi Quan, but also including Ba Gua Zhang, Tai Ji Quan, and Liu He Ba Fa. Dr. Black is also one of the highest ranked practitioners of Kajukenpo in the world and a disciple of the founder Sijo Emperado who lived in Dr. Blacks home for many years. Dr. Black is therefore also a Professor of Kajukenpo and Grandmaster of Kung Fu. His deep medical knowledge and insistence that his students and instructors learn medicine really sets him apart. Sifu Jensen studies Xing Yi Quan in the lineage of Hsi Hong Ji, Ba Gua Zhang in the lineage of Li Zi Ming, and Tui Na with Dr. Black. Dr. Black also introduced Sifu Jensen to Grandmaster Liu Wan Fu, and Grandmaster Liang Ke Quan, as well as others.
Grandmaster Liu Wan Fu
Grandmaster Liu Wan Fu was a living encyclopedia of traditional Kung Fu and formally designated national treasure while he lived. His personal skill and body transformation were extraordinary. In addition to his Lan Shou, Liu Wan Fu also received thorough training in Xing Yi Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, Tai Ji Quan, and Ba JI Quan from the top masters in Northern China. Grandmaster Liu taught Sifu Jensen, Xing Yi Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, and the traditional Chinese Kung Fu style of Lan Shou Quan including weapons and two person forms. Sifu Jensen is the most knowledgeable practitioner of this style outside of China and the head of Liu Wan Fu′s lineage in America.
Grandmaster Liang Ke Quan
Grandmaster Liang Ke Quan was a gifted master of Xing Yi Quan with an incredible depth and breadth of knowledge. His style had a very soft appearance concealing incredible power. He was also a master of brush Calligraphy. Grandmaster Liang spent many years traveling in Northern China and exchanging knowledge with many masters of Xing Yi Quan and Ba Gua Zhang. His knowledge of Xing Yi Quan was encyclopedic, as a teacher he was generous, and as a person he truly embodied the Tao. Everyone who studied with him loved him.
