Sept 21, at 6;30 pm, Mill Valley Public Library
In partnership with the California Writers Club of Marin, the Mill Valley Public Library presents Writing California: a panel discussion of local authors who research and write about the rich past and present of California.
Our talented Tai Chi student, Susanna Van Leuven aka Susanna Solomon, along with other three authors’ books were selected. Susanna’s first two short story collections are set in Point Reyes, CA.
Her stories are inspired by actual sheriff’s calls in the West Marin newspaper The Point Reyes Light.com meet Mildred, her octogenarian, who has a few things to say about everything, her portly husband who adores her (if we could all be so lucky), their granddaughter Alice, who at 14, is prone to nosebleeds, and Thomas, a 16 year old who finds it difficult to drive when his girlfriends kiss his ear while he is behind the wheel of his father’s BMW. Let’s not forget Doris, the local hairdresser, who has her hands full with her opinionated gray-haired customers.
Often funny, often whimsical, Solomon’s stories are full of humor, engaging characters and heart.
