Six-Saturday Xing Yi Quan Sparring Series with Sifu Scott Jensen
Most students learn the Twelve Animal Styles and Five Elements of Xing Yi Quan as solo forms — powerful to practice, but abstract until they meet a partner. This six-part seminar series closes that gap. Over six Saturdays, you’ll learn both of Xing Yi Quan’s traditional two-person sparring forms and then put them to work in live, guided partner drills — supervised throughout by Sifu Scott Jensen.
The Eagle Bear Sparring Form is 44 movements per person, built around the close-quarters striking skills of Xing Yi Quan. It applies the Twelve Animal Styles directly — fast, flowing exchanges of attack and defense that develop the timing and structure needed to strike effectively at close range.
The Seizing Hand Sparring Form, also 44 movements per person, shifts the focus to joint locks and standing grappling: how to apply them, and just as important, how to recognize and escape them. Together, the two forms cover both sides of Xing Yi Quan’s self-defense curriculum — striking and grappling — in a structured, repeatable format.
Each seminar has two parts. The first half is dedicated to learning a section of one of the sparring forms. The second half moves into supervised, light-contact sparring drills built around the Five Elements and Twelve Animals — low-intensity, closely guided, and designed so practitioners at any level can test what they’re learning in real time without pressure or risk of injury. This is training built for steady, safe progress, not competition-style contact.
