A Celebration of Asian Culture and Diversity
The Asian Pacific Heritage Festival is an annual event hosted by Asian American Alliance of Marin that showcases a variety of Asian cultural organizations and groups from the Bay Area. There were demonstrations by Taiko drummers, traditional Japanese Tea ceremony, Korean Buk drumming, Lion Dancers, children’s coloring contest and much more! The event was held May 5th, outdoors at the San Rafael YMCA on a beautiful day!
AAAM Board Member, Sue Yee, did a fantastic job organizing this event and coordinating our involvement. AAAM members and volunteers of the festival made us feel at home and welcome. We are grateful for their support! Thank you to Co-presidents Jason Lau and Emily Wu, and everyone involved. And a special thank you to the Master of Ceremonies who introduced our performers with great energy!
Events like this, show the interest and enthusiasm for classical arts and traditions by the larger community. Many people visited our booth to discover more about 10,000 Victories and express their admiration for the dynamic child performers.
The Animal Power performance team went on first, showing off moves from class including kicking and punching routines and stances. After Animal Power, the intermediate and advanced children demonstrated weapons and hand forms. All performers showed confidence and skill and gained valuable performance experience.
We were pleased to see students and family from the Animal Power classes at Ross Valley Charter school show up as spectators!
It is always nice for children to be exposed to students from other schools and classes. Especially for the newly formed classes, which, by nature, are isolated from the overall school and less familiar with the school culture. 10,000 Victories has many offerings in multiple locations.
Look for upcoming events to build courage and performance skills while supporting our wonderful school!
