Congratulations to All Our Northern Shaolin Black Sash Holders!

Yesterday, October 20th was the two-year anniversary of our Black Sash Graduation.

As many know, Burak Yildiz, our youngest Black Sash, has joined the US Army as a helicopter mechanic. Yildiz has completed his basic training and first level of mechanic training and has now joined a unit stationed in Korea, where he is continuing to do lots of training and work.

With encouragement from his father, Fethi, our oldest Black Sash, and myself, Burak has been taking classes and competing in any martial event he can.

We are not sure on all the details, but basically everything on offer at the base in Korea to gain hands on experience, jujitsu, wrestling, MMA, etc.  Apparently, he has won all the fighting matches!! This led to his officers calling him into a meeting and asking him questions and commending him. Hopefully, we will get more details soon! It is certainly nice to see that his training has yielded concrete results in terms of skill. Burak worked hard from a young age and has a great humility. He is somewhat surprised and a little embarrassed to find out how good he is. Staying humble and practicing with a great variety of new, uncooperative partners will take his skill to the next level.

We wish Burak Yildiz and all our Black Sash Holders continued success! We are proud of all of them and look forward to more good reports from the Yildiz family!
