I never could have predicted I would end up teaching Kung Fu and Qi Gong. Somehow Sifu Jensen’s love of these arts is infectious. I started training at 16 with the simple motivation to become more embodied. The martial aspect was just an awesome bonus. In addition, it felt nourishing to connect to my Chinese heritage through the lineage. Slowly, as I began to notice the profundity of the practice, I found myself training as much as I could and aspiring to master the art to their highest potentials.

Sifu Jensen and Northern Shaolin has taught me, above all, that contrary to my old misconceptions, to be strong is provide a sense of security and safety in this world. Though that may sound obvious, in this day and age weakness and passivity is often confused for humility and pacifism. In reality, to truly be a custodian for peace, you must be ready to fight for it.

In facing times of prolonged illness in my early twenties, it is these arts that rehabilitated me and continue to bring me on a path of ever deepening well being, sensitivity, and strength. Though I am tempted to give a long list of benefits, insights, and lengthy descriptions, the truth is, if you wish to understand these arts, you must practice them diligently!

I am nowhere near the level of mastery I aspire to embody, but I feel compelled to offer what I can for those who wish to experience healing, cultivate discipline, and have lots of fun! It is my sincere honor to share these ancient lessons with children, in the hopes it will provide a foundation for confidence, will power, athleticism, kindness, patience, and just about every other virtue you can name. In so doing, may the world benefit from a generation trained in human decency. In addition, it gives my incredible joy to watch my qi gong students of all ages experience an uplifting energy in each class and walk out empowered. May we all continue to grow and increase our sense of meaning and happiness in this precious life!
