Cynthia Rothrock Kicks on Kickstarter– New Western Action Movie “Black Creek” Kickstarter
Cynthia Rothrock is an incredibly talented female martial artist and actress. Rothrock is one of only a handful of western actors to do their own stunts. Rothrock was originally a champion performer and competitor in the 1980s and then had a successful movie career both in Hong Kong and then doing more movies here in the USA. Check out her IMDB list of movies and appearances here. “Yes, Madam”, “Righting Wrongs” and “China O’Brien” would be some of the best.
I saw Rothrock compete several times in the early eighties and remember her outstanding kicking skills and dynamic performances of Hook Swords well. You can read more and see old videos of Rothrock competing in this blog post I wrote previously.
It is interesting to see a Kickstarter for a movie. Admittedly Rothrock is more of a martial arts Queen, than a princess at this point, but she looks like she can still kick and hasn’t lost her flexibility and martial skills. I hope “Black Creek” gets well-funded and turns out to be a successful production of a great new movie!
Michelle Yeoh is nominated for an Academy Award!
Michelle Yeoh fans are waiting to see if she wins the Oscar – for best actress. Michelle Yeoh is only the second Asian actress to have been nominated including Merle Oberon. Let’s hope she wins! I have enjoyed her movies since Super Cop all the way up until the present. I may have watched more of her movies than any other female actress. Certainly, she is the only action star / stunt women to reach such a pinnacle of fame. Go Michelle!
