Northern Shaolin Training Camp 2020

We are planning an awesome training camp for Northern Shaolin enthusiasts who want to dive deep into mastering the art. August 1st through August 9th 2020, if you love Northern Shaolin, you’ll want to join us at this amazing retreat location in the spectacular Marin Headlands next to San Francisco. This location is both amazing and affordable, allowing us to give you a long intense training week with full room and board at a great price. Plan to bring a friend or two and level up your skills and knowledge in this retreat designed to produce leaders and teachers.

7 – 9 Days of Intense 9 hours a day training in an incredible location. The Point Bonita YMCA in the Marin Headlands.

Daily Schedule

6:30 – 8:00 Yijinjing and Hiking

8:00 – 9:00 Breakfast

9:00 – 12:00 Morning Training

12:00 – 2:00 Lunch

2:00 – 5:00 Afternoon Training

5:00 – 6:30 Dinner

6:30 – 8:00 Medicine and Tui Na

Programs Sunday Morning will be a orientation meeting and briefing on program details. The next 7 days will follow the above schedule. There may be a little variation as we travel to a few favorite secret locations.

Saturday August 8 will have a small dinner to celebrate the event and recognize everyone’s progress.

 7 – 9 Days of Training

1 Welcome – Orientation – Mission Briefing

8 Yi Jin Jing Training Sessions – Yijinjing Training sessions will involve hikes or short drive to incredible locations for detailed instruction and practice in Qigong. The Yijinjing or Muscle Tendon Changing Classic Qigong method was reputedly created by Tamo or Bodhidharma the founded of Chan or Zen sect of Buddhism to prepare his students for martial arts and for meditation. This routine of 24 exercises thoroughly stretches your body and opens your joints with many diverse movements and breathing methods.

7 Morning Northern Shaolin Training Sessions and 7 Afternoon Northern Shaolin Training Sessions

Each Morning and Afternoon Training session will be three hours long and divided between these topics:

30 minutes learning the Chinna or Joint Locking Partner Routine

30 Minutes sparring with protective equipment

1 hour 15 minutes of detailed instruction in Northern Shaolin hand forms

45 minutes of detailed instruction in weapons forms

7 Tui Na Training Sessions TCM Lectures – Medicine and Tui Na Training includes instruction in traditional therapeutic massage on fully clothed fellow students. After a long day of exercise learning how to relieve muscle soreness and harmonize the flow of blood and with traditional techniques. Important concepts of philosophy and traditional medicine will be included.

1 Small Goodbye Dinner and Awards – Saturday August 8th

1 Northern Shaolin “Gung Fu Fight Club” Sparring Session – Sunday Morning August 9th Sparring session will be close to tournament fighting intensity to hone everyone’s skills and include participation with local students and fighters. Instead of prizes, earn experience and respect from your peers.
