Meet Sifu Scott Jensen

Scott Jensen has spent more than forty years studying, practicing, and teaching traditional Chinese martial arts. He is a lineage holder in the Northern Shaolin tradition of Gu Ruzhang (Gu Yu Jeong) through the legendary Grandmaster Wong Jackman, and has earned international recognition including a gold medal in Tai Chi at Wudang Mountain, China — the birthplace of the art.

But credentials only tell part of the story.

A Path Shaped by Recovery

Sifu Jensen’s understanding of the body didn’t come from textbooks alone. Two life-threatening accidents left him with a shattered pelvis, severe spinal trauma, and a diagnosis of spinal degenerative disease. He lived with chronic pain for years.

Rather than accept those limitations as permanent, he turned to the same arts he’d been training in — Tai Chi, Qigong, and the internal methods passed down through his lineage teachers. Through disciplined daily practice and deep research into how these systems actually work, he gradually rebuilt strength and function.

That experience changed the way he teaches. When he talks about alignment, he’s not repeating theory — he’s drawing on what it took to make his own body functional again. When he guides a student through a Qigong sequence, he understands from direct experience what it takes to restore movement and vitality when the body is working against you.

This is what consistent, structured training can do. Explore Qigong, Tai Chi & Kung Fu Classes in San Rafael

Deep Roots Across Multiple Traditions

Most martial arts instructors specialize in a single style. Sifu Jensen holds authentic lineage knowledge across several classical Chinese systems:

Northern Shaolin Kung Fu — Complete system training under Grandmaster Wong Jackman, one of the most respected figures in the art’s modern history.

Tai Chi — Extensive study across multiple traditional lineages, including direct training with senior representatives of Chen and Yang family systems associated with figures such as Chen Xiaowang and Yang Zhenduo. Gold medalist at Wudang Mountain.

Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, and Lan Shou Quan — Traditional internal arts inherited through unbroken lineage transmission.

Qigong and Chinese Medicine Principles — Not treated as add-ons, but as integral parts of the training system, including manual therapy techniques and energy cultivation methods.

This breadth matters because these arts were never meant to exist in isolation. They share underlying principles of body mechanics, breath, and intent. Sifu Jensen teaches them as the integrated system they were designed to be.

How He Teaches

Sifu Jensen’s classes are detailed and precise. He breaks down body mechanics, posture, alignment, and sequencing so students understand not just what to do but why it works. Contemporary knowledge of biomechanics and anatomy sits alongside the traditional methods, making the training accessible without diluting what makes it effective.

He also takes Wude — martial virtue — seriously. Character development, ethical conduct, and the cultivation of happiness and inner harmony aren’t philosophical extras. They’re built into the training from the beginning.

Who This Training Serves

Students come to 10,000 Victories for many reasons. Some are drawn to the martial arts themselves. Others are looking for help with challenges that conventional approaches haven’t solved — chronic pain, limited mobility, fatigue, balance problems, low confidence, or recovery from injury.

What they find is a warm, welcoming community held to serious training standards, led by a teacher whose own experience with breakdown and recovery gives him an uncommon ability to meet students where they are and guide them toward real, lasting change.
