Cultivate the practical power of Xing Yi Quan, a martial art deeply rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and philosophy. This comprehensive system is designed to transform anyone, regardless of their fitness level, into a skilled and confident martial artist.

Key Elements of Your Xing Yi Quan Kung Fu Training:

  • Five-Element Fists: The foundation of Xing Yi Quan, combining power, speed, and precision. Practice the Five Elements in a flowing sequence, alternating between right and left sides as you move across the room. These exercises are not only effective but also accessible for beginners, providing a strong foundation for future mastery.
  • Tiger Core Drills: Strengthen your core for explosive power and stability. Mastering these techniques will give you a significant advantage in combat. Low kicks can effectively counter high kicks and deter opponents from closing in.
  • 12 Animal Styles: Master unique movement patterns inspired by the natural world. The 12 Animal Styles build upon the foundation of the Five Elements, combining them into unique and powerful techniques. Each style embodies the essence of a specific animal, teaching important aspects of body movement and combat strategy.
  • Linking Forms: Integrate the Five Elements and 12 Animal Styles into dynamic sequences. Despite their sophistication, Linking Forms are relatively easy to learn, as they primarily build upon previously mastered movements.
  • Sparring Forms: Practice real-world combat scenarios and hone your skills. Xing Yi Quan offers a diverse array of Sparring Forms, each with its unique focus and benefits. Here are three exceptional forms that will be presented in the course:
    1. Five Element Create Destroy: This dynamic form emphasizes the interplay of the five elements, fostering fluidity, power, and adaptability in combat.
    2. Chinna (Grasping and Seizing): A specialized form that focuses on grappling and joint-locking techniques. Chinna is invaluable for practical self-defense, enabling practitioners to neutralize opponents and maintain control.
    3. Eagle Bear Sparring (Wong Jackman Lineage): This comprehensive form, taught in the Wong Jackman lineage, incorporates a wide range of Xing Yi Quan strikes and joint-locking techniques. By practicing Eagle Bear Sparring, students develop a well-rounded skillset and enhance their overall combat proficiency.

Qigong Self-Healing, Tui Na Massage, Xingyi Quan Instructor’s Course - Best Combo for You

Qigong Exercise, Tui Na Massage, and Xingyiquan Kung Fu are three distinct modalities of movement and healing. While people are often immediately drawn to one more than the others, it can be helpful to consider the pros and cons of each before making a decision.

The Path of Qigong Self-Healing Mastery

Seekers of self-healing tools and spiritual/energetic practices will be captivated by Qigong. This practice focuses on going deep into the primordial essence of our being and strengthening our connection to life force and health. Qigong is a healthy, gentle exercise that anyone can learn and benefit from. It takes practice over time to truly master, but with dedication you’ll gain powerful new skills:

  • Synergize perfect posture and refined coordination into graceful movement
  • Connecting mind and body
  • Mastering mindful breathing
  • Cultivating blood and Qi for robust health

For non-martial artists, Qigong is a wonderful way to experience many of the health benefits of Tai Chi and Kung Fu without the striking and kicking. It’s a blissful, peaceful choice for building vibrant energy.

For martial artists, Qigong can level up your body awareness, coordination, and recovery from injuries and hard training sessions. Specific Qigong practices can even improve your striking and throwing power.

Tui Na Massage and Qigong Go Hand in Hand

The ability to care for and heal your loved ones is one of the most rewarding aspects of learning Tui Na Massage. Being able to effectively help  your family and friends with your Tui Na Massage skills when they are in pain is wonderful. If you’re studying a traditional martial art, incorporating Tui Na Massage can enhance your understanding of the body and energy flow.

For Tui Na Massage practitioners, learning Qigong Exercise can enhance your massage skills in several ways:

  • Qigong builds your movement skills, structural awareness, and joint alignment to prevent injury to hands or arms when you give treatments and makes your treatments easier and more effective
  • Qigong exercise maintains your energy levels and prevents burnout
  • Abundant personal Qi, vibrant health, and focused mind from Qigong leads to better treatments

Tui Na therapists and other bodyworkers can greatly benefit from incorporating Qigong into their practice.

Xingyi Quan Kung Fu

Xingyiquan Kung Fu or “Form and Will Boxing” is a famous style known for its:

  • Striking power
  • Simple yet profound movements
  • Connections to Chinese medicine, philosophy, and Tui Na massage

Learning the entire Xingyi Quan system is the largest commitment and most challenging of the three healing paths because it literally includes both Qigong Exercise and Tui Na massage in its fullest expression. The key aspects of Xingyiquan include:

  • Stance
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Breathing
  • Posture
  • Power development – Synergy

These create fantastic Tui Na massage experts, as many Tui Na techniques seem to spring naturally from Xingyiquan martial techniques. However, merely starting the Xingyiquan instructor’s course without learning Qigong Self-Healing Mastery or Tui Na Massage can still provide enormous benefits. Xingyiquan martial artists benefit from Tui Na massage in two key ways:

  • Receiving treatments and caring for others
  • Developing acute sensitivity to joints, tendons, muscles, and bones, which enhances their joint-attacking techniques

The Interconnected Practices

Learning even a little of any of these three practices – Tui Na Massage, Qigong Healing Mastery, or Xingyiquan Instructor’s Course – can have a tremendous impact:

  • Tui Na knowledge enhances understanding of any type of Kung Fu, Tai Chi, or Qigong
  • Basic Xingyiquan Kung Fu empowers and enriches Qigong practice
  • Qigong energizes and improves Tui Na massage skills and sensitivity

Ultimately, the three practices are deeply interconnected. While mastering all three is a significant commitment, even starting with one can have far-reaching benefits. Consider exploring which single course or any combination resonates with you most. Or just “Yee-Haa” and start all three!!

“I have been practicing under the supervision of Sifu Jensen for over five years, enjoying the Xing Yi practices. Xing Yi, while more vigorous than Tai Chi, is also an internal art. “Xing” translates as form or shape, and “Yi” as intention or mind. The practice involves unifying body and mind in movement, making it more subtle than it appears.

I have also learned and practice some of the Kung Fu forms taught at the school, including sword forms. These vigorous and grounding exercises help keep me vital and focused. The movement practices support my meditation practices, both standing and sitting, which are very important to me. They strengthen, balance, and stabilize the body, supporting mental acuity and overall relaxation.

The 10,000 Victories School retains a traditional approach to training, which is uncommon, and is comprehensive in Northern Shaolin and related martial arts and forms. I appreciate the school’s authenticity and Sifu Scott Jensen’s dedication. I recommend it to anyone interested in these arts who seeks authentic teachings and committed practice.” – Bill Goedecke

While Qigong does have spiritual and philosophical roots, you can approach the practice purely as a physical exercise without delving into the metaphysical aspects.

What if I’m not flexible enough for Qigong?

Qigong is a gentle practice that gradually builds flexibility and is famous for conditioning your tendons and joints to be more supple and healthy. Qigong effectively relieves many common aches, pains, general stiffness, and lack of flexibility gently and gradually. Qigong movements are designed to be accessible to people of all fitness levels. In fact, Qigong can help improve your recovery from injuries and illnesses over time.
