The Art of Tai Chi
Tai Chi Chuan is a classical Chinese internal martial art that develops balance, structural strength, coordination, and calm mental focus.
Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi combines slow, continuous movement with precise body mechanics and controlled breathing.
Through consistent practice, students gradually develop:
- Structural stability — grounded balance and resilient alignment
- Intelligent strength — tendon and connective tissue development without impact strain
- Calm focus — improved breathing and nervous system regulation
- Long-term vitality — strength and mobility that support healthy aging
Harvard Medical School has described Tai Chi as “medication in motion.”
At 10,000 Victories, we preserve the art’s classical mechanics while applying them in a modern training environment.
The martial roots of Tai Chi are precisely what make it such an effective lifelong health practice.
What You Learn in Class
Students in our San Rafael program learn the classical Yang Family Tai Chi system transmitted through Grandmaster Wong Jackman.
Training includes:
- Foundational posture, alignment, and internal connection
- The Classical Yang Family Long Form
- Refinement drills that develop structure and coordinated power
- Partner exercises such as Push Hands (Tui Shou)
- Optional Tai Chi sword practice offered as a separate class
Each stage of training builds upon the previous one.
Strength develops gradually, movement becomes more efficient, and sensitivity deepens over time.
Authentic Lineage. Serious Instruction.
Sifu Scott Jensen brings more than 40 years of experience studying and teaching classical Chinese martial arts.
His primary teacher was Grandmaster Wong Jackman, a pioneering Chinese martial artist who taught a complete Tai Chi system in the United States decades before the art became widely known.
In addition to this direct lineage transmission, Sifu Jensen has studied with several of the most respected Tai Chi masters of the modern era, including Grandmaster Yang Zhenduo of the Yang Family tradition and Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang of the Chen Style.
This breadth of training provides a deeper understanding of Tai Chi’s principles across styles — while remaining rooted in a coherent, traditional system.
Students learn not only the external choreography of Tai Chi, but the internal mechanics that give the art its depth and effectiveness.
This is not a casual drop-in class.
It is a disciplined training path for students who value depth and steady progress.
