Garden Potluck — Friends and family are welcome!

This Halloween, the 10,000 Victories garden will be transformed into a gathering place for some of the world’s greatest — and quite possibly most questionable — “scientific minds.”

Come in costume, put on a lab coat, and join our gathering of Mad Scientists, eccentric inventors, questionable researchers, and scientific geniuses of every variety.

You can invent your own Mad Scientist character — or take inspiration from a favorite scientist, famous inventor, classic science-fiction character, movie or book, or even one of history’s legendary laboratories.

Think Einstein, Tesla, Marie Curie, Young Frankenstein, Back to the Future, Area 51, old-fashioned 1950s and ’60s sci-fi… or something entirely of your own invention.

And then comes the important question:

What are you researching — and how is your brilliant experiment going to save the world?

Maybe you’ve discovered a revolutionary new form of Quantum Qi. Perhaps you’re developing a Mind-Reading Kung Fu Form, a Time-Traveling Tai Chi Portal, a Dantian-Powered Bubble Generator, or the long-awaited Happy-All-the-Time Elixir. 😉

Your research can be inspired by Tai Chi, Qigong, Kung Fu, Chinese medicine, physics, biology, psychology, technology, food, plants, aliens, time travel — or some entirely new branch of science that exists only in your wonderfully ridiculous imagination.

You’re welcome to bring a mysterious invention, strange experiment, scientific prop, secret formula, or demonstration — but no elaborate preparation is necessary.

A costume, a lab coat, and a ridiculous idea are plenty.

🏆 And yes — there will be prizes!
We’ll have a few highly silly and completely unofficial awards for some of our favorite costumes and scientific creations.

We’re starting in the afternoon so we can take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and enjoy some time together in the garden before evening sets in. Come early, settle in, mingle with your fellow scientists, and enjoy the garden.

We’ll gather for an early supper around 5:30 pm.

And since even mad scientists need to eat, this will be a garden potluck. Please bring a delicious dish, appetizer, pastry, or drink to share.

We’ll provide wine, sparkling water, salmon fried rice, veggie fried rice, and a few snacks.

Come eat, drink, laugh, mingle, compare “research,” admire everyone’s scientific breakthroughs and, most importantly, enjoy each other’s company in the garden.

A willingness to confidently explain nonsense is highly recommended. 🧪👻
