We’re making progress on the Teahouse. I am envisioning a friendly place for conversation, exchange, and lessons. To give you an idea, I thought I would share two clips from a Kung Fu Classic called “Come Drink With Me” starring the magnificent Cheng Pei Pei. This film is from 1966 and it was a breakthrough movie that raised the bar for all that followed.
Enter the teahouse, its a friendly place:
Asking politely improves service in most teahouses… (My favorite moment: hand slap on table! 1:45)
Bonus teahouse scene#1
Bonus Teahouse Scene #2
Almost a Teahouse fight scene with Ba Gua Zhang versus Wing Chun. The female, Gong Er, represents the real life Sun Jian Yun, daughter of Sun Lu Tang. Sun Lu Tang was famous for mastering Tai Chi, Xing Yi Quan and Ba Gua Zhang and grouping them together as the internal school of Classical Chinese Boxing. His daughter was born late in his life and grew up watching her father teach. She was reputed to be one of the best of his students and a top exponent of combat oriented Gong Fu. Her specialty was Ba Gua Zhang. I narrowly missed studying with her early in the 1990s…
I guess friendly means different things to different people!
